A350 Lithium-ion batteries European approval expected in coming weeks.

The Airbus A350 XWB will bring lithium batteries on new aircraft since the beginning of the year 2016.

The introduction of this new  lithium-ion batteries technology was postponed due to Boeing's difficulties on 787.

Airbus expects to receive European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) type-approval for lithium-ion batteries even before of this year.

Lithium batteries will be the Airbus A350 XWB engines standard equipment during next year 2016.

Airbus has not yet taken a decision on which MSN the installation will start.

The new replaceable batteries may also be used to retrofit aircraft already delivered.

Finnair, with the first A350 in operation, has not yet made decisions about possible lithium-ion batteries installation.
