The
Airbus A350 XWB will bring lithium batteries on new aircraft since the
beginning of the year 2016.
The
introduction of this new lithium-ion batteries technology was
postponed due to Boeing's difficulties on 787.
Airbus
expects to receive European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) type-approval for
lithium-ion batteries even before of this year.
Lithium
batteries will be the Airbus A350 XWB engines standard equipment during next
year 2016.
Airbus
has not yet taken a decision on which MSN the installation will start.
The
new replaceable batteries may also be used to retrofit aircraft already
delivered.
Finnair,
with the first A350 in operation, has not yet made decisions about possible
lithium-ion batteries installation.
