Taiwan-supplier for A350 engine parts builds a new facility.

Taiwan´s Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) is investing $41.5 million to construct a third factory, dedicated to engine casting work.

The facility, which will focus on work for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB, could in the future also work on CFM International´s Leap engine, said AIDC.

The new Kaohsiung factory is expected to be completed by the end of the year and scheduled to be operational in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

  1. Why isn't there a UK manufacturer who could do this work? Or are we really just shopkeepers?

    1. Why does Airbus not manufacture their wings in France? Or are they really just shopkeepers?

The UK exports things to other countries. What exactly is the problem with other countries exporting things to the UK?

Your comment makes you sound like a proponent of mercantilism, an idea we got rid of in the 18th century. There is one country that still practices it though; they call it "Juche".

  3. Your remark I found quite rude Anonymous, all I was referring to was the very great shortage of exporting engineering companies in the UK-thats where we EARN money. Importing is fine, but you should realise that it comes at a COST to our economy.
