The aircraft took off from Airbus’ facilities in Toulouse and performed a flight of 4 hours, 14 mins during which the engine covered a wide range of power settings at altitudes up to 35,000ft.

The engine’s operation and handling qualities were evaluated from low speeds to Mach 0.87.

Commencing around 9 months prior to the A350-1000’s first flight, this engine flight-test program will include hot weather as well as icing condition testing campaigns, probably to be performed in Iqaluit - Nunavut, Canada.

  2. The Trent-XWB-97 looks quite good on the A380. I wonder what an A380 with 4 of those engines could do in terms of take-off weight, range and fuel burn. I guess that's why a couple of the A380 customers want the A380 NEO.

  3. The natural icing campaign does not require to go in Iqualit => Condition may be found in Toulouse Area or in Alaska, pending on the test period.
The 97K color looks wondeful on the A380 MSN001 !
