4 A350 operators and 4 seat configurations

How many passengers can be fit in a A350-900?

The A350 XWB is offering a great seating flexibility although the baseline of the A350-900 is 325 seats.

There are currently 4 operators and each one has different cabin configuration. And all of them with different seats comparing this typical capacity of 325.

Finnair is the operator with more business and premium economy seats (46+43), Qatar Airways is the company with less seats interior (283) while TAM is the airline with more seats in total (348).

Qatar (lowest passenger capacity) and TAM (highest one) have configured a 2-class interior.

Meanwhile Vietnam Airlines and Finnair have 3-class cabin.

Qatar Airways, the launch customer, has 36 business seats +  247 economy seats = 283 seats in total.

Vietnam Airlines has 29 business seats + 45 premium economy + 231 economy seats = 305 seats.

Finnair has 46 business seats + 43 economy comfort + 208 economy = 297 seats

TAM has 30 premium business + 318 economy seats = 348 seats. (almost in the first 3 aircraft)

  1. All very nice but the problem for Airbus is the suppliers of said equipment. Now eight days into the new year and no further deliveries, including the one from last year that was held up by same suppliers

  3. The year 2015 was the first year of A350-operation at different airlines (QTR, HVN, FIN, TAM) and the reliability rate was very high in the first year of operation (close to the target of 98,5% for the first year of operation). No big major in service issues were identified so far, just a few teething problems, which will be fixed very quickly. This is in my eyes the real success, this was only possible due to the dedicated work of all employees in the A350-programme (from concept phase 2006 until now).

The next A/C is MSN0022 for Finnair, which will be delivered probably by end of January 2016, followed by MSN0012 (QTR) and 4 additional Batch-3 standard A/C's until end of February 2016 (MSN0023-FIN; MSN0026-SIA; MSN0027-TAM; MSN0029-CPA). In March if everything is going well 6 additional A350XWB-941 will be delivered to the customers. The continued ramp-up will require even more effort from Airbus this year.

I like to say, Airbus is delivering be patient.
